Mission, vision and values

Our mission

Article 2 of HASDI's statutes, adopted on 1 August 2026, defines the purpose of the association as follows:

“The purpose of the association is to provide humanitarian assistance to populations affected by humanitarian crises or natural disasters, in Haiti and in any other territory where such needs are identified, and to contribute to the recovery, resilience and sustainable development of the communities concerned.” (unofficial translation — the French statutes prevail)

Haiti is the first territory where the organisation is establishing itself. This mission is pursued across nine fields of action:

• emergency humanitarian aid — food, safe water, shelter, essential goods and essential health care;
• continuity of education in emergencies;
• water, sanitation and hygiene;
• health — emergency medical assistance, prevention, vaccination, strengthening of local health systems;
• psychosocial support for affected people and communities;
• child protection, and the prevention and response to gender-based violence as well as sexual exploitation and abuse;
• awareness-raising, preparedness and disaster risk reduction;
• strengthening the capacities of local actors and community organisations;
• raising public awareness in France of humanitarian issues and international solidarity.

These fields are not silos: on the ground, needs overlap, and the association's programmes are designed to address them in a coherent way.

Our vision

Crisis-affected territories where the most exposed populations regain access to essential services, and where communities, supported by local actors able to prevent and respond to crises, move towards recovery, resilience and sustainable development. HASDI intends to contribute to this through programmes designed, funded and steered from France, and implemented in each field of operations by local partners — starting with Haiti.

Our principles

HASDI's work rests on principles enshrined in its statutes, binding on the association and its partners alike:

• Neutrality: the association does not take sides in hostilities or in controversies of a political, racial, religious or ideological nature.
• Impartiality: aid is provided on the basis of needs alone, without regard to nationality, origin, religion, gender or political affiliation.
• Independence: the association freely defines its programmes, independently of any government, party or interest group.
• Non-denominational character: HASDI is not affiliated with any faith or religious movement.
• Absence of any discrimination: in its activities as in its internal functioning, the association excludes discrimination of any kind.
